Rovers Ladies progressed through to the second round of the SSE Women's FA Cup in dramatic fashion on Sunday.

Faye McCoy stepped off the bench to score the winner three minutes from time to beat Bradford City 1-0.

The Bantams started the match the stronger of the two sides with two early set-pieces seeing Ellie Olds going close.

But Rovers did have the ball in the back of the net at the midway point of the first half, but Saffron Jordan was flagged offside, it was a rare first half chance for the visitors as Bradford continued to pose the greater threat.

The hosts should have lead at the break, but after capitalising on a defensive error that allowed Hannah Campbell to break through, the Bradford forward's shot rattled the post.

After a disappointing first half showing, Rovers thankfully improved after the break. A corner whipped in from the left by Natasha Fenton almost found it's way in at the far post, before the resulting corner was headed narrowly wide by Lynda Shepherd.

However with just 15 minutes remaining Bradford spurned a great chance to win the tie. Campbell forced keeper Danielle Hill into a smart low save, and then Kayleigh McDonald showed great anticipation to deny an onrushing attacker a tap in.

But with extra-time looming Rovers grabbed the winner with just three minutes left of the 90. Striker Saffron Jordan threaded the ball through to McCoy and she fired low into the corner to spark jubilant celebrations.

The reward for the Rovers Ladies is a home tie against Hull City in the second round.
