Keep the momentum building

2 December 2016

Owen Coyle knows it is vitally important that Rovers continue to build on recent results when they take on Huddersfield Town on Saturday.

Rovers go into the match at Ewood Park boosted by their 1-0 win over league leaders Newcastle United last time out, following on from their 3-2 triumph over Brentford the previous Saturday.

The Rovers boss is also pleased to see the side finally get the points that their recent performances have merited, and whilst he admits that they should have more to show for it, they can continue with their positive momentum to help climb the league table.

"It is always nice when you get the points to go with the performance as it reinforces the good work and the hard work that everyone has been doing," Coyle told Rovers PlayerHD.

"Outside everyone at the football club no-one gave us a chance going to Newcastle last week, but we certainly believed that we'd been playing well and were certainly capable of getting a result if we played to our maximum. And even though we played well I still think there is more to come from us.

"But when you get those valuable three points it gives everybody a boost and that is what we've got to continue to do, striving every day to keep improving and keep trying to get those valuable points every time the games come around.

"It is important that you look to try and build and get momentum and everything that goes with it. We certainly understand that we made a poor start to the league, but from then on in each game incrementally we are improving with the level of our performance but we still feel we should have more points than what we've had with those performances.

"To the players' credit I think we have produced a level of performance consistently in the last 11 or 12 games. What we have to do is keep getting the points to go with the performances because ultimately that is a huge differential because you can go away from home like we did against Aston Villa and Bristol City and feel very aggrieved and hard done by that we didn't get points.

"But when you go and get those valuable three points that makes an unbelievable difference, and that is what we have got to do. To keep carrying on, to keep giving that level of performance and coming out the right side of the margins, and when you do that of course that gets you to the end of the league that we want to be in."
