Feeney in fine form

Owen Coyle believes Liam Feeney is the perfect example of a player who has worked hard to get back into the first team picture.

The experienced winger has returned to the starting line-up the past fortnight, playing a crucial role as Rovers claimed back-to-back wins over Brentford and Newcastle United.

As Rovers prepare to take on Huddersfield Town at Ewood Park this Saturday afternoon looking to make it three in a row, the manager has been pleased with the performances and attitude from the midfielder, and has called for more of the same from him.

"I've been delighted for him because ultimately our game is not just about eleven players, we've a squad and players have to be ready at any given moment to step in," the boss told Rovers PlayerHD.

"This is why I say to the players that are on the periphery, on the bench or round about it, they have to be training even harder every day so that when that chance comes - as it did for Darragh Lenihan, as it did for Danny Guthrie - you've got to be ready when that opportunity arises.

"Liam Feeney has stepped into the arena and on both occasions has done very well. We know he is a good player, he had started the season well when we were playing poorly, and then we changed things and Liam was one of those who was affected by that.

"But his attitude has never changed in training, he has been waiting for that chance and again he is another one that you want to continue in that form because he has pace, he is a terrific crosser of the ball and he can cause the opposition problems. You saw his delivery last week for Charlie Mulgrew's goal.

"It you look at the last couple of games Liam is in a good place at the moment and he's got to continue with that.

"So I'm really pleased for him, but again we can't affect what is behind us, it is what is in front of us, that is what we have to make sure and go and replicate those performances and go and get the points that everybody craves."
