Darragh delighted to reach 50 for Rovers

3 December 2016

Darragh Lenihan will delighted to make his 50th appearance for Rovers when they take on Huddersfield Town this Saturday afternoon.

The former Republic of Ireland Under-21 international has had to be patient for the milestone to come around, after joining the club at the age of 17.

But having been a regular fixture in the side for the last two seasons, the versatile footballer is eager to continue working hard to get more appearances under his belt.

"To be honest I didn't realise it would be my 50th appearance but I'm overjoyed," said Lenihan.

"I'm 22 I didn't realise it would be 50 appearances for Blackburn but the main thing for me is the three points and just carry on this run. We've won two games in a row and hopefully we can do the same against Huddersfield.

"I've just worked hard and thankfully it has paid off. I'll just keep doing the best I possibly can, but like I said the main thing for me is just to get wins and push us up the table.

"It has been a great experience, last week playing in front of over 50,000 people and winning and doing well, so I'll cherish these memories for the rest of my life and hopefully I can get 50 more."

Lenihan is expected to line-up along side Charlie Mulgrew at the heart of the Rovers defence later today, and is expecting a tough match against the Terriers.

"Every game in this league is going to be difficult, so if you take the game lightly you are going to get turned over," he added.

"So we'll go into this game like we do with any other game, we'll be focussed and prepared for a good side, Huddersfield are in the play-off places so we are expecting a good game.

"Momentum in this league is important, we've got home advantage and we are looking to win, so hopefully we can continue this run and get a good result."
