Owen Coyle believes Ryan Nyambe will be all the better for his full league debut on Saturday.
The young full back, who celebrates his 19th birthday this Sunday, made his first league start as Rovers drew 1-1 with Huddersfield Town.
Nyambe was up against a tough opponent in Rajiv Van La Parra, but the Rovers boss felt that he acquitted himself very well.
"Young Ryan Nyambe came in and I thought he did very well in the circumstances," Coyle told Radio Rovers.
"He was up against a very good player in Van La Parra and it will be a great experience for him.
"He should take an awful lot from the game, with the type of lad that he is, he'll remain grounded anyway.
"He came in and tried to find his feet in the early part of the game which wasn't great because Huddersfield dominated that early part. But he stood up against a very good player so I think he will benefit from that.
"That is what we want, we want to grow our young players, bring them into the team and have that mechanism from the Academy with products coming through.
"The message it sends through the whole club is great because the supporters see another young player like a Scott Wharton or a Connor Mahoney that will get chances. But it also sends a message to the other young lads that if Ryan can get a chance then they can be the next one."
Rovers are back in action next Saturday when they make the short journey to Deepdale to take on Preston North End.
