Craig Conway and Ben Marshall showed off their artistry as they became the latest pair of Rovers stars to visit the Community Trust's summer camps.
The wingers arrived on an afternoon when children from the Activity Camp were drawing scenes relating to their favourite football club, so Conway was on hand to help with some of the colouring in, judge some of the handiwork and even sign the artistic efforts for those who wanted a memento of his visit.
He was then joined at the Soccer and Sports Camp by Marshall, with the pair taking questions from the young fans, before joining in with a couple of small-sided games.
Conway said: “It’s been really good. I’ve watched some of the games and the lads are really enjoying it and it’s been a really good standard, so I’ve been very impressed.
“It’s massively important, because these are the fans of the future and maybe even players of the future. I remember when I was young and I used to go to things like this and when players come it gives you a boost and you can aspire to be like them.”
Marshall added: “It’s good for the kids. I used to come to these myself and it’s always nice for a player to come down and get involved and show them a few of your skills!”
Martin Winters, Senior Business Development Officer at Blackburn Rovers Community Trust, was on hand to arrange the appearance and was delighted with the way both players got into the spirit of the event.
"The children loved meeting two of their heroes and the pair of them both interacted really well with all of the youngsters,” he said.
"They both made the point that they used to get a real lift when they were visited by professional players when they visited camps when they were young, so it must be nice for them to come along and offer that same excitement to our fans now."
The Activity Camp runs every weekday in the Darwen End until Friday 26th August, with the Soccer and Sports Camp continuing a week longer until Friday 2nd September. If your child wants to meet more of Rovers’ stars who will be attending in the weeks to come, call 01254 508256 to make a booking.
