Rovers' youngsters suffered their first loss of the summer as they went down 3-1 to a strong Vitesse Arnhem Under-19 side on Tuesday.
Billy Barr's team started well at the National Sports Centre Papendal, but conceded on 35 minutes and then again just before the break to trail 2-0 at half-time.
The young Rovers responded well in the second half, making the game more of a contest, and they got their reward on 54 minutes when a cross from Te-Jay Robinson was headed home at the back post by Callum Wright.
However with Rovers pressing to get back on level terms, a poor penalty decision allowed the hosts to restore their two-goal lead.
Their time in Holland, organised by League Football Education, ends this weekend after they face NAC Breda on Saturday.
ROVERS: Campbell, Makinson, Williams, Mols, C. Doyle, Jones, Pemberton, Wright, Butterworth, Curran, Robinson.
