Owen Coyle says everybody at the football club is excited for the start of the new season.

Rovers get their 2016-17 campaign underway on home soil this afternoon when they take on a Norwich City side who dropped down from the Premier League last term.

Coyle knows it won't be easy against the Canaries, but believes every game in the divison is a tough one.

"We start against very tough opponents in Norwich City, but we are at home and we are looking forward to it," said the manager.

"You could sense it with the players in training as we've got closer to the game, I think they are all excited and looking forward to playing their part for Blackburn Rovers.

"If you look at the Championship regardless of who you are playing it will be a tough opponent. The money that has been spent, the quality that the league now holds.

"But for us it is about being the best that we can be. It is a huge challenge, the Championship is an unforgiving league, the games come thick and fast and we have to be ready for that.

"So hopefully we have that continuity and consistency of selection, and as always, momentum. When you have that impetus and that momentum it helps you achieve things.

"So for us it is making sure that we prepare ourselves for every eventuality. Making sure we are respectful of our opponents, but knowing that we can stand toe-to-toe and win those tough games and that is why we are all excited and looking forward to Saturday."

Season tickets are still on sale ahead of today's opener.  With adult prices from just £279, the equivalent of less than £13 per game!

You can buy in store at the Roverstore at Ewood Park ahead of kick-off.

Fans planning on coming down to the Roverstore to purchase season tickets, or match tickets for the Norwich game, are advised to come down early as large queues are anticipated ahead of the 3.00pm kick-off.
