Still looking to strengthen

Owen Coyle is eager to add more new faces to the squad as the season prepares to get underway this Saturday.

The Rovers boss has been one of the busier managers this summer with six arrivals, but he has admitted he would like at least three more new players before the transfer window shuts on August 31st.

With the scrapping of the emergency loan window Coyle knows it is imperative that he gets his dealings completed as quickly as he can, to shape his squad for the new campaign.

"I would certainly love to be add another three players to what we have to bolster the squad," said the Rovers boss.

"We have to understand that when the window closes there are no emergency loans. Clubs had always felt that when the window closes if something unforeseen happened you could always dip into the emergency loan, well that is not available now.

"So when it closes on August 31 we have to make sure that we have a squad capable of taking us to January 1 and from there.

"So that is why I think it is important that we continue to try and add to the squad that we have got."

One of those positions that the manager is eager to strengthen is up front. Having already brought Anthony Stokes and Danny Graham to the club this summer, Coyle is eager to add to the firepower at the squad's disposal.

"We've brought in Anthony Strokes and Danny Graham is back here, and we've got a terrific young striker in Lewis Mansell but he's not quite ready, he needs developing, he needs a bit of growth.

"So you really want one that you know you can hang your hat on and play in the Championship at a high level and that is something that we continue to pursue."

It still isn't too late to get a season ticket ahead of the campaign, and with adult prices from just £279 - the equivalent of less than £13 per game - it represents exceptional value for money.
