Rovers' Under-18s ended their pre-season trip to Holland with a 3-3 draw with NAC Breda on Saturday.
The young Rovers have spent the last fortnight in the Netherlands as part of a programme organised by League Football Education.
There was little between the two sides in the first half, Brad Lynch and Daniel Butterworth going close for Rovers, but it was the hosts who lead at the break thanks to a lobbed goal on 42 minutes.
Rovers hit back five minutes into the second half when a Te-Jay Robinson cross was volleyed home by Stefan Mols from 10 yards.
However Breda regained their advantage on 76 after Rovers failed to clear a free-kick.
Billy Barr's side performed well against the older Dutch side, Ben Paton evening up the scores once more on 79 with a left foot shot, and then Rovers took the lead when a cross from Andy Jackson was misjudged by the Breda goalkeeper.
But for the third time in three games in Holland, the home side were awarded a penalty in the closing minutes. The Rovers staff dumbfounded by the decision as the match ended 3-3.
The Under-18s returned to the UK late Saturday night. They've a quick turnaround as they begin their Premier League U18 campaign away to Liverpool tomorrow at 11am.
