Mahoney and Wharton's home town pride

Fledgling first team stars Connor Mahoney and Scott Wharton spoke of their pride of playing for their home town team as they popped in to meet youngsters at the Community Trust's summer camps.

The teenage pair, who have been regulars in the first team squad this season after stellar efforts in the U21s last campaign, were able to meet and greet around 80 excited primary school children at both the Blackburn Rovers Indoor Centre and the Community Trust's education facilities in the Darwen End.
Children from the Activity Camp played 'hot potato' with the duo to great excitement from the junior participants, while the older group from the Soccer and Sports Camp were treated to a demonstration of the pair's on-field skills as they helped out with a series of small sided football matches.
Wharton, who made his first team debut in Saturday's draw with Buton Albion, and Mahoney, whose first appearance of the season came as substitute against Mansfield Town in the EFL Cup, made a further visit to see the youngest partipants in the Soccer and Sports Camp during their computer break.
As well as giving out tactical advice on football simulation games - and in Connor's case, keep two young girls entertained with a game of 'rock, paper, scissors' - both players took questions from the children about their playing careers. Aside from the usual questions about goals they've scored or cards they've received, the two Blackburn-born talents explained the pride they feel when playing for the club they've supported since they were a similar age, hopefully inspiring a few of those listening in the room to try and follow in their footsteps.
With more guest appearances expected during the remaining two weeks of the summer holidays, your child still has plenty of chance to potentially meet their favourite player on one of our camps. The Activity Camp continues for the rest of this week and the Soccer and Sports Camp carries on until Friday 2nd September, priced at just £12 per day (or a special rate of £39 for all of next week's four day week after the bank holiday).
