Rovers Ladies have completed the signing of Kayleigh McDonald from Mossley Hill.
The defender came through as a youngster at Everton Ladies’ Centre of Excellence before moving to Mossley in 2014.
Ladies boss Gemma Donnelly was delighted to have brought Kayleigh in and believes that she is exactly what the team needed.
"I thought Kayleigh would need a lot of work and games to be able to compete for a place in the team,” said Donnelly.
"But she has has been superb in pre-season, both in technical ability and fitness and is developing into a top class centre-half.
"I’m so pleased to have Kayleigh with us. I believe she is exactly what the team need for us to be able to add that extra strength to our backline."
The 22-year-old made her competitive debut for Rovers in the 2-0 win away at Stoke and has had no trouble settling in within a short period of time.
"I was so pleased to be able to join the club," said McDonald. "I already knew a couple of the girls but the whole squad and coaching staff have made me feel extremely welcome.
"To be able to play on Sunday and prove myself was great. It’s always good for someone to notice that you have had a good game.
"When the manager notices your performance, it gives you a real confidence boost as a player."
