Rovers can confirm the appointment of John Henry as first team coach.

The 44 year-old moves to Ewood Park from Ayr United where he was assistant manager, he replaces Rob Kelly.

The arrival sees Henry reunited with manager Owen Coyle. The pair were team-mates at Airdrie, Falkirk and St Johnstone, and then they worked together when the Rovers boss was in charge of Burnley, Bolton Wanderers and Wigan Athletic.

"John is somebody who I have known since he was 16 years of age," said Coyle.

"I went to Clydebank as a player and he was my boot boy, he's an absolute gem and I've kept in touch with him throughout his career. He then played for me at St Johnstone and he has gone on and done his coaching badges and worked with me at Burnley and Bolton, before being assistant manager at Ayr United for the last couple of years.

"He is someone who has a terrific eye for a player, a terrific coach, so we are delighted to have him, he'll be an important part moving forward."
