Rovers Ladies boss Gemma Donnelly was delighted to see her side kick off the new season with all three points on Sunday.
First half goals from Lynda Shepherd and Saffron Jordan gave the Rovers a 2-0 away win at Stoke City.
Donnelly not only felt that the victory was fully deserved, but that it should have been by a greater margin had the side been more clinical in front of goal.
“I’m really pleased with the result on Sunday, I thought we deserved the win," she Said.
“Travelling away to Stoke is never easy, so to go and get three points and a clean sheet gives us a great foundation to build on.
"It could have been an even greater scoreline with the number of chances we created, but 2-0 suggests it was a comfortable victory for us and I believe it was.
“I thought the girls moved the ball well and we competed all across the park in terms of the physicality of the game. We looked much fitter and sharper than the opposition and that seemed to tell towards the end.
“I thought both Saffron Jordon and Kayleigh Macdonald were both outstanding. They were huge a presence for us throughout the entire game.
“Saffron made a complete nuisance of herself for the opposition for the entire game and Kayleigh dealt with some difficult balls into the box.”
Rovers continue their league campaign this Sunday away at Huddersfield Town Ladies, kick-off 2pm. Follow the action on twitter @RoversLadies.
