Owen Coyle knows Rovers have to cut out individual defensive errors if they are to pick up the points to rise up the table.
Having picked up just the one point from the opening four league games, the Rovers boss feels the side will always carry a goal threat, but it is of little use if goals keep being conceded at the other end.
As Rovers prepare to face Fulham at Ewood this Saturday, Coyle knows that a collective effort is required to stop conceding sloppy goals.
"There is no getting away from it, we've had some horrendous individual errors and we need to eradicate them from our games," Coyle told Rovers PlayerHD.
"That comes with that focus, that concentration, and that collective getting together to make sure that we cut out the individual errors.
"We know we can score goals, we know we can be a threat, both from open play and set-plays, but what we need to do is to make sure that we shut the back door and give ourselves that platform to go and win those matches.
"Again it isn't just about the goalkeeper and the back four, our first line of defence is obviously your attackers. It is a collective effort, it is going up and down together and not having space between the relevant departments.
"There can be no sense of detachment, it has got to be a unified moving up and down together and everything that goes with it. When we have done that we actually look a very good team.
"But when we've not that of course leads to fragility, a bit of edge and nervousness and ultimately an individual error."
