Owen Coyle believes a positive result and performance this evening in the EFL Cup, can help kickstart their league campaign.

After the disappointing loss to Norwich City at the weekend, Rovers are quickly back in action with a first round tie against Mansfield Town, with tonight's match giving presenting the perfect opportunity to get Saturday's result out of their system.

"It is a tough cup tie but one that we are looking forward to," Coyle told Rovers PlayerHD.

"After Saturday we'd have loved to have played on Sunday because that hurt can make it a long weekend.

"So it is nice that the cup comes round quickly, and it gives us that opportunity to go and try and win a tough cup tie and have a run in the cup competitions to then get going in the league to help you pick up the points.

"Winning any game helps everybody because there's that good feeling about winning regardless of what you do.

"Given the nature of the Championship, you want to get used to playing Saturday-Tuesday, Saturday-Wednesday, Sundays, because that is what the Championship brings. And if the cup competitions help you prepare for that then all good and well."

Tickets for tonight's match are now off sale. Fans are reminded that there are no sales at the One Call Stadium this evening.
