New signing Martin Samuelsen used his club contacts before joining Rovers.

The 19-year-old attacker is a former team-mate of Jack Byrne and Stephen Hendrie and he spoke to both before opting to sign for the club.

After arriving on a season-long loan deal, the Norwegian international is hoping to play a big part for his new side this campaign and can't wait to get started.

"I'm really happy to be here and I hope I can help and do well this season," The Norwegian told Rovers PlayerHD.

"It is a club with a big history, nice training facilities, and a nice stadium, and I knew a few of the players who are here from before. Then when I spoke to the manager I was sold.

"I know Jack Byrne from my time at Manchester City, and also Stephen Hendrie who I've played with at West Ham. I spoke to them both and they said only good things about Blackburn.

"It is a good thing knowing them, it will make it easier to settle in and hopefully I'll get to know the other lads quickly.

"I want to help us win games and score goals and to get Blackburn back where they belong."

After spending time last season on loan with League One Peterborough, he is now looking forward to the step up to the Championship.

He added: "Playing in the league system is completely different from playing for the Under-21s. You are fighting for points and everything is at stake, so that was a real difference for me.

"I really enjoyed it last year and I think this year will be even better.

"I'm an attacking player, I like to score great goals, and I think I can help the team.

"Scoring goals and creating goals, as an attacking player is the main job and that is what I am hoping to do."

Samuelsen could make his debut for Rovers this Saturday when Fulham are the visitors to Ewood Park.

Tickets for the match are on open sale up until the 3pm kick-off priced from £18 for Adults, £12 Concessions and £7 for Juniors aged 17 and under.

Why not avoid the matchday queues by booking online at and collecting them from the Roverstore collection point before kick-off.
