Academy to host more keeper camps

15 August 2016

Blackburn Rovers Academy are to hold more of their popular keeper camps in September and October.

The club held two hugely successful boys camps last season for ages 8-11 and 12-14 and will host further get-togethers this autumn.

The previous camps saw more than 70 local keepers put through their paces, so places are expected to fill up quickly.

"Feedback from our previous camps has been excellent and it is a great opportunity to find further local talent," said Academy goalkeeping coach Ben Benson.

"It gets the boys into the Academy and gives them a taster of what it is like as a young goalkeeper here.

"Local home grown talent is vitally important to us and we feel that evenings like this and our development schools will pave the way for future local goalkeepers to progress through the Academy."

The keeper camp for those budding keepers aged Under-7 and Under-8 will be held at the club's Senior Training Centre at Brockhall on Friday 23rd September, with the Under-9s, Under-10s and Under-11s being held a week later on Friday 30th.

The camp for boys aged Under-12, Under-13 and Under-14 will take place on Friday 7th October.

These age groups are from September 1st 2016 - So as an example keepers would need to playing either in an Under-7 or Under-8 team from September.
