Boss Owen Coyle believes the season opener against Norwich City will provide the perfect test for the start of the season.
Rovers get the new campaign underway tomorrow at 3pm when the Canaries are the visitors to Ewood Park.
The manager knows that last season's Premier League side will pose a huge test for his new-look squad, but it is one that everyone is relishing.
"We start with a tough opener against a very good Norwich City side but that is what you want," said Coyle.
"You want those competitive games, you do your hard work, you get those pre-season games under your belt in readiness for the opening game of the season.
"Norwich are a wonderful team lead by a good friend of mine Alex Neil, and of course Alan Irvine is there now as his assistant, so it is people that we know well.
"But that won't stop us giving everything in our power to win the game for Blackburn Rovers.
"They have fantastic players, Cameron Jerome, Wes Hoolahan, Naismith who they invested big money in last year, so if you go through what they've spent it comes to big sums of money. But it isn't big sums of money that decide games it is players that decide games and we feel that we've got the players that can go and win that game on Saturday.
"We are going to have to be at our best to do it, but we truly believe that if we are at our maximum then we can win the game against very good opponents."
Season tickets are still on sale ahead of the Saturday's opener. With adult prices from just £279, the equivalent of less than £13 per game!
