Owen Coyle believes the signing of Gordon Greer adds a wealth of experience to the Rovers squad.
Following his release from Brighton at the end of last season, the Rovers boss wasted little time in bringing the Scottish international back to the club, the defender putting pen-to-paper on a one-year deal.
"I think he is a good addition to the squad," said Coyle. "He brings a wealth of experience, he is an international player, and I think he'll add that experience that he has picked up over the years to help the younger ones that we have in our group.
"I've got to say since he has come in he has been a credit to himself with the way he has gone about it. He has shown that he really wants to be here and play for Blackburn Rovers.
"So I think it is a fantastic signing."
The manager also spoke to Greer's former boss at Brighton Chris Hughton, and his manager on the international stage Gordon Strachan, with both full of praise for the defender.
"I don't think there is any question about Gordon Greer's abilities," added Coyle. "He's had an outstanding career, he played in the play-offs last year for Brighton.
"When I was chatting to Chris Hughton earlier in the summer he was back and forth and it was a tough decision whether to keep Gordon or not, so I knew then he was at a very high level.
"Gordon Strachan and the Scotland camp were super enthused about him as well regarding his qualities, so all I needed to know was that physically he was the same lad as he was.
"So it is now up to Gordon to fight for his place and look to get into the starting line-up."
Greer could make his Rovers debut in the opening game of the season against Norwich City this Saturday at Ewood Park.
It still isn't too late to get a season ticket ahead of the campaign, and with adult prices from just £279 - the equivalent of less than £13 per game - it represents exceptional value for money.
