Elliott Bennett is looking forward to renewing old acquaintances when Rovers take on Bristol City this Saturday afternoon.
The midfielder spent the first half of the 2015-16 season on loan at the Ashton Gate club, making 15 appearances for the Robins.
Now firmly in the Rovers camp, Bennett will enjoy seeing his former team-mates, but only after the final whistle.
"When I was there I had a good connection with the lads and they were brilliant with me during my time," said Bennett.
"I've stayed in touch with quite a lot of them to be honest. So it will be good to see a few familiar faces. But it is a game of football and once you cross that white line for those 90 minutes there are no pals until after the game.
"So I'm really looking forward to seeing a few familiar faces but ultimately it was another game of football that we want to win."
He also played against Rovers when the two teams met back in early December, with Bennett on the losing side as the Lancashire club won 2-0 thanks to goals from Grant Hanley and Ben Marshall.
"It was a strange day down there," recalled the midfielder.
"It was quite an even first half I thought but then we had a man sent off after 46 minutes or something. It was difficult from then on.
"So hopefully it is the same result this time around."
