Under-21s boss Damien Johnson was full of praise for his side's display in their 3-0 win over Brighton & Hove Albion on Monday night.
A superb early strike from Chris Taylor set Rovers on their way, with second half goals from Sacha Petshi and Anton Forrester completing a comfortable evening at Ewood.
The lead coach felt Rovers were full value for the win, their third victory in their last four outings.
"I'm really delighted, it was a great performance and result," said Johnson.
"For us as development coaches is about the performance really and a lot of time you might get the performance but not the result, so to get both, and a clean sheet, was really pleasing, it was a really positive night.
"We were pleased with the first half display but we felt that we could kick on and score more goals.
"So that was the challenge that we set the lads at half-time, for them to step it up even more, and to be fair to them they did and we could have had more goals, as we've had several good chances.
"I don't want to single anyone out, it was just a pleasing night, the lads are all learning the game so it is really important that they put on performances like that on stages like this and impress the first team staff.
"It was the perfect night for myself and John."
The Under-21s are next in action on Friday 16th October when they face Arsenal at Boreham Wood.
