Rovers' Under-21s slipped to a disappointing 3-0 away loss at Fulham on Friday night.
Three unanswered second half goals at Motspur Park condemned Damien Johnson's side to their third defeat of the season.
The match could have been so different if a perfectly good goal from Rovers on six minutes had been allowed to stand.
A Ryan Nyambe centre saw Anton Forrester head back into the area for Sam Lavelle to slam home from 12-yards out, but inexplicably the linesman on the far side incorrectly ruled that Forrester was offside.
The much-changed Rovers side worked hard to ensure the scores were level at the break, but once Fulham got their noses in front just past the hour mark there was only going to be one winner.
Adetayo Edun advanced from the right to shoot from distance, but the ball deflected off the unfortunate Scott Wharton to beat goalkeeper Ryan Crump.
Monday night's win over West Ham United saw Rovers come from behind three times, but there was to be no rally on this occasion as the home side doubled their advantage on 74 minutes. Following a flowing move Luca de la Torre applied the finish touch at the near post.
A third followed in the final minute of the 90 as Mattias Kait got the better of substitute Jack Doyle before firing home to ensure a disappointing evening for Rovers.
"On the ball we let ourselves down, our passing play wasn't as good as it had been previously," said Johnson.
"There wasn't much in the game in the first 60 minutes but our reaction after going behind was disappointing.
"We didn't respond like we did on Monday night against West Ham and after that we lost our way."
