Wharton pens pro deal

1 October 2015

Scott Wharton has signed his first professional contract with the football club.

The promising defender has put pen-to-paper on a two-and-a-half year deal until the summer of 2018.

Blackburn-born Wharton, who turns 18 on Saturday, has come through the ranks at Rovers, progressing through the Academy to become a regular in Damien Johnson's Under-21 side after making his debut for them at the end of last season.

This year has seen the central defender be an ever-present for the development squad, including keeping a first clean sheet of the campaign in Monday's 3-0 Ewood Park win over Brighton & Hove Albion.
