Under-21s face Wolves this Friday

30 October 2015

Rovers' Under-21s will be eager to maintain their current run of good results when they take on Wolverhampton Wanderers this Friday night.

Damien Johnson's side make the journey to Molineux off the back of four wins from their last five league and cup outings.

Last time out the young Rovers put in a hard-working display to defeat Stoke City 1-0 at Leigh Sports Village so they'll be looking for a repeat performance against the Wolves.

Rovers had the better of the two matches when the sides met last season. At Telford, goals from Devarn Green and Jordan Preston earned the visitors a share of the spoils in a 2-2 draw.

Then at the Brockhall, a first half David Carson goal was enough to earn the Rovers all three points in a 1-0 victory.

With the first team having been in action in the win over Leeds United last night, and with a match against Birmingham City on Tuesday, a young squad will to travel to the Black Country for this evening's match.

David Raya is once again in goal, with Sacha Petshi expected to be involved in midfield.

U18s top scorer Lewis Mansell returns after serving a one-match ban, whilst Academy defender Matthew Platt in line for a first U21 appearance due to an ankle injury to Sam Lavelle.

Rovers will select from: Raya, Crump, Nyambe, Doyle, Platt, Wharton, Carson, Thomson, Tomlinson, Petshi, Tanner, Mahoney, Green, Wall, Forrester, Mansell, Rittenberg.

Kick-off at Molineux is at 7.00pm.
