Potters test for U21s

26 October 2015

Rovers' Under-21s return to match action this Monday night when they take on Stoke City at Leigh Sports Village - kick-off 7.00pm.

It has been a month since Damien Johnson's development squad last kicked a ball in anger following their 3-0 win over Brighton & Hove Albion at the end of September.

Chris Taylor, Sacha Petshi and Anton Forrester grabbed the goals on that occasion against the Seagulls to earn a second league win this season.

When Rovers met Stoke City in the corresponding fixture last year the Under-21s put in a dominant display with a 5-2 victory over the Potters.

Connor Mahoney and Dean Rittenberg each scored a brace, with Modou Cham also getting on the scoresheet on an impressive evening at Leigh.

With the seniors having a league game against Leeds United this Thursday night, David Raya is the only player named in tonight's squad with any meaningful first team experience.

ROVERS: Raya, Nyambe, Doyle, Carson, Lavelle (c), Wharton, Mahoney, Thomson, Forrester, Green, Wall.

Subs: Edgar, Fisher, Tanner, Tomlinson, Rittenberg.

STOKE: Bachmann, Pringle, Banks, Lecygne, Edwards, Watkins-Clark, Taylor, Shenton, Skapetis, Telford, Ouariachi.

Subs: Waddington, Gyollai, Coban, Mollina, Moseley.
