Hope Akpan believes Rovers still have plenty more to come following their impressive 2-0 win over Ipswich Town on Saturday.

Back in the starting line-up, the midfielder played a pivotal role in the victory. Winning an early penalty which Jordan Rhodes converted, before the striker soon added a second to set them on their way to all three points.

Akpan feels the team can take great heart from the way they performed against Ipswich, but he knows they'll need to keep showing that improvement if they are to have a successful season.

"To a man everybody did their jobs, everyone was looking confident and playing well, we were excellent," Akpan told Radio Rovers.

"I think the first half was probably some of the best football we've played this season.

"But I believe there is more to come, we are not going to get carried away, we've had a few good results on the road and we've picked up points at home, but all it can do is give us belief that we can beat the best sides in this league.

"Ipswich finished in the play-offs last year so we know that we've got the capabilities to push on and challenge for those sort of spots.

"So we are going to be working hard over the international break to make sure that we replicate those sort of performances that we've had in the last few games.

"Some people have said that the break has come at the wrong time but I don't think that's the case.

"We can reflect on the things that we've done well, and work on the areas that need work in the international break so we can be ready and more prepared for the MK Dons game which will be fast upon us."

Rovers are back in action after the international break when they travel to face MK Dons at stadium:MK.
