Ben Marshall is likely to provide the cover at right back as Adam Henley serves his suspension against Derby County tomorrow night.
Henley picked up a one-match ban following his sending off on Saturday against MK Dons and misses the Ewood match against the Rams.
Boss Gary Bowyer is confident in Marshall's ability to move back into the defence, having played in that position on previous occasions.
"The right back cover that we've always had available has been Jason Lowe and Ben Marshall," said the manager.
"Marshall did it ever so well last season for us and slotted in there on Saturday and performed well against a tough opponent."
Corry Evans (groin) and Markus Olsson (illness) are both expected to recover in time for the Wednesday night match, but Rovers will still be without Chris Brown (knee), Jason Lowe (foot), Danny Guthrie (thigh) and Fode Koita (hamstring).
"We took Corry off and I think we got him at the right time so we expect him to be fully fit," added Bowyer.
"But aside from that I think that is where we are, there is no progress from Chris Brown or Jason Lowe as they're long-term.
"Danny Guthrie is getting closer but Fode Koita is going to be a bit longer, so they won't be available for Wednesday."
