A real team effort

17 October 2015

Jordan Rhodes has paid tribute to his team-mates after collecting his award for winning the Sky Bet Championship Player of the Month for September.

The Rovers hot-shot was voted the best in the division last month after his five goals in four games, but Rhodes put it down to an upturn in team form rather than his individual displays.

"I think it has been a real team effort," said Rhodes.

"I'm more than obliged, I'm happy to be up there and see the odd goal go in but ultimately it is about picking up points and winning as many games as we can for Blackburn.

"We've had a half-decent run of form in the last four games or so, but sometimes the goals do go in and that's great.

"It is great to win awards, but ultimately it is all about Blackburn, it is about playing well for the team and getting more goals than the opposition for me than anything else."

Next up for Rhodes and Rovers is a tricky trip to newly-promoted MK Dons.

Rhodes has played against the Dons on numerous occasions during his time at Huddersfield Town and is anticipating another tough match at stadiummk.

"We feel here that the table hasn't really reflected the way that we have done in recent weeks," added the striker.

"But we'll take one game at a time, starting with Milton Keynes on Saturday - they're a really tough team and a good footballing side.

"I've played against them many times in the past few years and come up against them in the play-offs a couple of times as well.

"They've got a really good young manager there that will have good memories of his time at Blackburn, but come Saturday he'll want to do well on a personal level as well as professional.

"They've got some very good young players that pass the ball about well so we've got to be right on our game to produce a performance to get a result down there, but we know it will be tough."

Supporters who haven't yet purchased tickets this Saturday's match against MK Dons will be able to do so on the day of the game - cash only from the away ticket booth from 1.00pm.

Tickets are priced at £25 Adults, £17 Seniors (65 & over), and £7 for Under 18's.
