Rovers scoop four awards

It was a successful night for Blackburn Rovers at the MBNA North West Football Awards.

For the football club scooped four awards at the event at Emirates Old Trafford.

Blackburn Rovers Community Trust won the Community Club of the Year award, beating off the challenge of Blackpool, Wigan Athletic, Bolton Wanderers and Tranmere Rovers.

Then the club's Head of Sports Medicine Dave Fevre won the Fabrice Muamba Award for Outstanding Contribution to Football Medicine and Science.

Markus Olsson was up for the Championship Player of the Year and he won the public vote ahead of Jason Pearce of Wigan and Tim Ream of Bolton to lift the prize.

The last silverware of the night went to Blackburn Rovers legend Tony Parkes as he was rightly recognised in winning the Lifetime Contribution to North West Football award. He follows former Rovers heroes Kenny Dalglish and Dave Whelan who have previously won the award.
