Paul Lambert will leave it as late as possible to give Tom Lawrence the chance make Saturday's match against Sheffield Wednesday.
The Rovers attacker limped out of the victory over Preston North End last weekend after a kick on his calf. And although he hasn't yet returned to training, the boss is hopeful that he'll be fit to face the Owls.
"He is doing okay, he hasn't trained up until now, but hopefully we can get him out tomorrow," said Lambert.
"We'll see how he is, it might be a late one but we'll see how he feels.
"He got a kick in training and then he got hit in the same place in the match. But he's doing alright, there's no problem with anything, if we can get him back training tomorrow then we'll see how he is."
If Lawrence fails to be fit in time, then it could mean a return to the starting line-up for Chris Taylor.
The manager was delighted with the way the versatile midfielder slotted into the side at Deepdale and would have no qualms about putting him in from the start at Ewood.
"I've got to say Chris Taylor came in and was excellent," he added.
"He was full of energy, the penalty was great with the way he went into the box."
New signing Doneil Henry is added to the squad. Jason Lowe remains sidelined following his foot operation.
Tickets for Saturday's match against Sheffield Wednesday are currently on open sale with prices from £22 for Adults, from £14 Seniors and 18-21 year-olds and from just £9 for Juniors aged 17 and under.
