Under-21s boss Damien Johnson felt his side thoroughly deserved their victory against rivals Burnley.
Rovers came from behind at Turf Moor to run out 3-1 winners and clinch a place in the last 16 of the Under-21 Premier League Cup, a competition which the youngsters reached the final of last season.
Burnley's Ntumba Massanka opened the scoring in the 25th minute before centre-half Matthew Platt equalised late in the second half.
As the game entered extra-time, Rovers rallied and superb strikes from Willem Tomlinson and Connor Mahoney sealed the victory.
"I'm delighted, it's a fantastic result coming to Burnley and winning," Johnson said.
"We scored some good goals and played some decent stuff, in the end I think we deserved it.
"We were disappointed with our first half display and felt the lads could give us a bit more, we asked them to step it up and in fairness they did.
"We've had a decent run of results, bar the Everton game recently, so we're just going to continue that and we'll see what comes."
The development squad are next in action on Monday, 23rd November when they take on Swansea City at Leigh Sports Village, kick-off 7pm.
