Salesbury Primary School were put through their paces for the final time ahead of their big trip to Wembley this weekend.
The pint-sized stars will represent Rovers in the final of the Football League Trust Kinder+Sport Kids Cup, which forms part of the build-up to Monday's Championship play-off final between Middlesbrough and Norwich City.
The Salesbury students’ road to Wembley began with victory in the local heats, held at Blackburn Rovers Indoor Centre, where they overcame 40 other schools from across the greater Blackburn area to the title.
They then represented Blackburn Rovers Community Trust in the regional tournament at Bolton Wanderers’ Lostock training ground, where they triumphed over some of the very best school sides in the country who were representing all the other Championship clubs from the north of England.
Throughout their cup run, the pupils have been mentored by staff from Blackburn Rovers Community Trust, who will accompany the team down to Wembley, where they will compete for the coveted prize against the southern section winners, St James' Academy of Bournemouth.
The match will take place just hours prior to the play-off final, which is expected to attract a capacity crowd of around 90,000.
Rovers’ Head of Community, Gary Robinson, said: “It is a fantastic achievement and hopefully they'll bring the trophy back to Blackburn!”
