The 14th May 1995 will always have a special place in Rovers' fans hearts.
Everything hinged on the final game of the season. Rovers, with a two point advantage, travelled to Anfield to face Liverpool, whilst Manchester United, who needed a win, were away to West Ham.
On a sun-drenched Merseyside, an early goal from Alan Shearer put Rovers in the driving seat and news of a Michael Hughes goal for West Ham had the blue-and-white fans dancing with delight.
Liverpool, with only pride to play for, began to take control of the match and just past the hour mark John Barnes equalised for the home side as news filtered through that United too had equalised at Upton Park.
An injury-time free-kick from Jamie Redknapp piled on the agony for the watching Rovers fans. Their dread was thankfully short-lived as news filtered through that United had only drawn.
Rovers were crowned Champions of England for the first time in 81 years.
