Darragh Lenihan and Mark Edgar both saw game time for their respective countries on Thursday evening.
In Waterford the Republic of Ireland Under-21s kicked off their 2017 UEFA U21 Championships qualifying campaign with a 1-0 win over Andorra.
Lenihan played the full match for the Irish as Dylan Connolly's first half strike gave the home side the win.
Meanwhile in Holland, Northern Ireland's Under-19s earned a creditable 1-1 draw with their Dutch counterparts at the Sportpark Zegersloot.
Rovers defender Mark Edgar started the match that saw Stevenage's Ben Kennedy get on the score sheet for Northern Ireland.
They are back in action on Saturday lunchtime when they face AZ Alkmaar in the second of their two Dutch friendlies.
