Rovers’ first team stars were guests of honour at the brand new Leisure Centre opened in Blackburn this Spring.

The joint project between Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council and Blackburn College cost £13m and the Rovers players were amongst the first to try it out.

“We were invited down to have a look at and try out some of the state-of-the-art facilities the day after the Bolton game,” said Rovers’ Head of Athletic Performance Chris Neville.

“It really is a fantastic facility. They have an Olympic-sized swimming pool, a smaller pool with a hydraulic floor so that you can vary the depth of it, a studio, a spinning room, a gym, changing facilities – everything you could need and more.

“The only challenge when we went down for our recovery day was keeping the lads off the slides!

“It’s nice to get out in the community and continue the links we have with the college and the council.

“We were delighted to have use of the facilities – they are as good as I have seen.”
