Gary Bowyer hailed star striker Jordan Rhodes after his late goal ensured victory over near-neighbours Bolton Wanderers.
The 25-year-old frontman, stabbed home his 14th goal of the season in the 94th minute to claim all three points for the blue and whites.
Chances had come and gone for Rovers, and Rhodes in particular, in match that the home side had the majority of the play, but when it mattered, the striker reacted quickest to fire home from Doneil Henry's header.
"He's got great character, in a sense that he missed a chance with header from a cross from Craig Conway and he didn't let it bother him," Bowyer told Radio Rovers after the game.
"He knew he'd have one more chance and he put that away brilliantly.
"He knows how to drop and arrive at the right time and it was a fantastic finish from him.
"It was another massive team effort, it was tremendous. We've had to deal with two set-backs with Olsson with a slight hamstring and we lost Corry with a dead leg.
"But it didn't set us back, they kept going through the gears, they were terrific. It was no more than we deserved."
Rovers are back in action this weekend when they take on Charlton Athletic at the Valley.
