Rhodes call-up is fully deserved

17 March 2015

Gary Bowyer believes Jordan Rhodes' call-up to the Scotland is just reward for his impressive form.

Seven goals in his last eight starts has seen Rhodes overtake Rudy Gestede to be the club's leading scorer with 16 strikes so far this campaign, and prompted Scotland boss Gordon Strachan to include him in his squad for the forthcoming friendly against Northern Ireland and the Euro 2016 qualifier against Gibraltar.

"I'm delighted for him, he is in a rich vein of form," said the Rovers boss.

"His goals on Saturday were two fantastic finishes and he can go and get himself up the road after two more games for us.

"He gets himself in those positions and does what he does best there. It is no secret, he keeps working hard on his finishing. Everybody knows what he is capable of."
