Rovers are delighted to announce the appointment of Eric Kinder as the club’s new Head of Academy.

Eric, who has worked as Rovers’ Under-21 head coach since returning to the club in June 2013, takes up the position with immediate effect.

The Blackburn-born youth coach previously worked at the Academy from 1999 to 2006, before moving to Carlisle United, where he spent seven years as coach of their Under-18s.

Eric, who has guided Rovers’ Under-21s to the final of the Under-21 Premier League Cup this season, will be supported in his new role by Stuart Jones, who takes on Operational Manager responsibilities.

“This is one of the best days of my life and I’m really looking forward to it,” said Eric, who will play an active role in the recruitment and coaching of Rovers’ rising stars.

“I’m a Blackburn lad, I was proud to be at Anfield yesterday and I was proud to be at Anfield when we won the Premiership 20 years ago. It just felt like the good old days and we’ve got to get back to those days, because it was fantastic to be there.”

Rovers’ managing director Derek Shaw said: “Some very high-calibre candidates applied for the post, a thorough interview process then took place and Eric was the standout choice.

“His passion and knowledge of the club is unquestionable, he is hugely respected within the game and he is eager to hit the ground running from day one. He has got this job on merit and we wish him all the best.”

A full and exclusive interview with Rovers’ new Head of Academy will be run on the website later today.
