John O'Sullivan will return to Rovers this week after his loan spell with Barnsley came to an end at the weekend.

The Republic of Ireland Under-21 international enjoyed a fruitful time with the Tykes, making seven starts and one substitute appearance during a month-long loan spell in which Barnsley picked up six wins and two draws.

With Rovers short on numbers due to a lengthy injury list, boss Gary Bowyer is pleased to welcome O'Sullivan back into the fold.

"He is coming back,"confirmed the Rovers boss. "Because of the numbers and how we are he will certainly be involved in the squad when he comes back.

"You only had to look at the other night when we had Connor Mahoney on the bench who had played 90 minutes for the Reserves the night before.

"So Jonno comes straight back into the squad after what has been a successful loan for him again at Barnsley.

"We are delighted that he continued to make the development that he has done. He has gone from Conference to League Two to League One now."
