Cairney's goal aim

17 March 2015

Tom Cairney would love to end his goal drought this evening when Rovers face Brentford.

The Rovers midfielder hasn't found the back of the net since the opening weeks of the season back in August when he scored a pair of spectacular strikes against Cardiff City and Norwich City.

Cairney came close to getting on the scoresheet against Bolton last Wednesday, and at Charlton on Saturday, but was left frustrated by a string of fine saves.

“I’m enjoying my football, I’m involved a lot in the games and I’m getting involved higher up the pitch," said Cairney.

“I just wish I could hit the back of the net because at the moment I only seem to score in training.

“I just need one to skim off me and go in to change my luck but I’d be more worried if I wasn’t getting in those positions and not having shots.

“It’s just one of those things and once one goes in I’m sure I’ll get a few.”
