Darragh Lenihan was an unused substitute as the Republic of Ireland Under-21s went down 2-1 to an England 'C' team on Monday afternoon in Galway.
In testing conditions the Rovers midfielder watched on from the bench as two goals in as many second half minutes from former Rovers youngster Matty Pearson and Aldershot's Jordan Roberts put the Three Lions in control.
Against an older England side, Ireland rallied to pull a goal back through Sean Maguire, and although they ended the match strongly, the team in green couldn't grab a second goal to prevent defeat.
The Irish are back in action at the end of the week when they face English opposition once more this Friday. They make the journey to St. George's Park, Burton, to take on Gareth Southgate's England Under-21s.
