Rovers' Under-21s have been handed a home start to their 2015-16 Barclays Under-21 Premier League division two season.
The development squad will take on Derby County at Leigh Sports Village on Monday August 10th, with the usual kick-off time of 7.00pm.
The two sides shared away victories when they met last season. The Rams beating Rovers 4-3 in an entertaining encounter at Ewood in December, before the Blue and Whites gained revenge with a 1-0 victory at the end of April.
Two away games follow in August with matches against Newcastle United and West Bromwich Albion, before Ewood Park plays host to West Ham United who are new to Division 2 this season following their relegation last term.
Also dropping down into Division 2 are Fulham, whilst Swansea City join the league, replacing Bolton Wanderers.
As with the last campaign there'll be 22 league games to be played. Of the 11 home games, seven matches will be played at Leigh Sports Village, there'll be three games at Ewood Park, plus one at the Rovers Academy at Brockhall. The full fixture list can be found here.
In a slight change to the format this season the Division 2 champions go up automatically and teams positioned two to five will compete in a promotion play-off.
In the play-offs, the team second will host the team who finishes fifth and third will be at home to fourth.
The ties will be allocated on a single-match basis with two winners competing in a play-off final, hosted at the main stadium of the club who finished the season higher in the division.
