Chris Taylor has revealed that staying at Blackburn Rovers was always his favoured option after penning a new one-year deal at the club.
The midfielder's contract had come to an end, and although Taylor had other offers on the table, the chance to remain at Rovers was too good to refuse.
The former Oldham and Millwall player joined Rovers in May 2013, and has made 58 appearances in a blue-and-white shirt to date, and hopes he for many more to come.
"I always wanted to stay and I was told that the club wanted me here so that was the main thing," said the 28-year-old.
"Then it was about getting the deal sorted and getting it boxed off, which took a little longer than I thought, but it is all done now but I'm glad to be here.
"There were talks with other clubs and they went fine but whilst Blackburn wanted me I always wanted to be here. That was my number one choice.
"I've worked hard to get to a club like Blackburn and I just didn't want to give it up. I want to prove to a few people that I can be a regular here and we'll see this season. I'll get my head down and work hard and hopefully I can put in some good performances for myself and the team.
"I enjoy it here, it is a massive club and I love working here. I've more to learn and improve and with the staff here I think these are the right people for me to do that."
Taylor and Rovers return to action this Saturday when they take on Accrington Stanley in the first pre-season friendly of the summer.
