After a summer of frustration on the transfer front, Rovers manager Gary Bowyer was delighted to finally get a couple of deals over the line.
Yesterday, Rovers completed the signings of towering French duo Sacha Petshi and Fodé Koita.
Tough-tackling midfielder Petshi, 23, joins on a one-year deal, whilst versatile forward Koita, 24, has put pen-to-paper on a two-year contract at Ewood Park.
The Rovers boss said: “Sacha came on trial and even though he’s a great size himself, it will take a little bit of time to build him up from the level of football he’s been playing to what’s expected of him now, so we’ve just got to be patient with him.
“We’ve done ever so well to get Fodé, because there were a couple of other clubs trying to get his signature, but once we got him to the training ground and had a meeting with him, he was impressed with what he saw and we’ve been able to conclude the deal.
“We need to assess his fitness and see where he’s at, and we’ll put a programme in place to get him up to speed as quickly as we possibly can.
“He can play on either flank and down the middle. He’s quick, he’s aggressive, he’s a powerful runner and he’s got some good technique, so we’re delighted to have got them both over the line and we can’t wait to get working with them.”
The manager is confident the new arrivals will quickly adjust to life in Lancashire, but admits they will need time to get to grips with the English game.
“The environment that we’ve got at the club – the family club feel, which has been a tradition of the club for a long time – and the group that we’ve got, who are a great bunch of lads, hopefully it will help them settle in very quickly,” Bowyer added.
“But moving to a different country, learning the language and obviously getting to the pace of the game over here, it’s going to take time and we have to be patient with them.”
