Gary Bowyer believes there has never been a better time for the younger players to stake a claim for a first team place.
With the club under a transfer embargo, the ability of the players from the Under-21s and Under-18s to make the next step up takes on an even greater importance.
David Raya, John O'Sullivan and Darragh Lenihan all made the leap to the senior squad last season, and with the likes of Anton Forrester, Ryan Nyambe, Andy Fisher, Connor Mahoney and Lewis Mansell all out in Portugal with the rest of the first team, the opportunity is there to be taken.
"I'm delighted that we have been able give the youngsters a run out and get them mixing with the pros," said the Rovers boss.
"Certainly when you look at our situation this season with the transfer embargo it is important that we blood them quickly and get them ready because the situation might be that we have to play them,
"On the showing against Accrington I wouldn't have any problem with putting one or two in, I thought they were excellent."
On Rovers' return from Portugal their next pre-season match is against Rochdale on Tuesday 21st July - kick-off 7.45pm.
It is pay on the day at Spotland with admission prices of £10 Adults and £5 for Under-16s.
