New signing Jay Spearing believes he has made the ‘right move’ after completing his loan switch from Bolton Wanderers.
Player of the Year at the Macron Stadium last season, Spearing has found opportunities hard to come by this campaign and was delighted when Rovers came calling.
“I had a few offers from elsewhere,” said the 26-year-old midfielder. “But for me personally, this was the right move.
“I spoke to the manager (Neil Lennon) and I wasn’t going to fit into the system he wanted to play.
“I obviously want to play, so we both agreed that it was best for me to come here and hopefully get some games.
"It’s been difficult recently, but that’s part and parcel of the game. That’s sometimes that happens when a new manager comes into a club - they have different ideas and ways of playing and that’s just something you have to get on with.
“When I first went to Bolton, I was playing week-in week-out and you get used to it.
“I worked hard to get that back, but for one reason or another that wasn’t happening, so it was a mutual decision.
“So it had come to the point where it was time for me to move on and get some time out on the pitch.
“Now I’ve got to impress a new manager and prove that I should be on the field.”
