Blackburn Rovers wish to set the record straight following an erroneous article in one of yesterday's national newspapers.
In Saturday's Daily Mail, quotes attributed to manager Gary Bowyer about the club's supporters were not said by the Rovers boss.
The newspaper has admitted 'full responsibility' for the mistake and has since amended the story online.
Rovers' Director of Communications Alan Myers said: "I was really disappointed to see those quotes attributed to Gary when he had never said such things.
"I've been around long enough to understand that mistakes can happen in print media and that's what we've been assured it was, however it's important that the situation is clarified and corrected and that our supporters and others know the truth.
"The relationship between our supporters and Gary is exemplary and we can't allow something like this to tarnish that."
