Ready to take my chance

2 January 2015

Jack O'Connell is eager to grasp his chance if given the opportunity in tomorrow's FA Cup tie with Charlton Athletic.

The 20-year-old defender is back at Rovers following a successful loan spell with League One side Rochdale.

O'Connell was recalled a week early to add more strength in depth to the Rovers squad for Saturday's match at the Valley, and would love to add to his one senior appearance for the club.

"I would be a great opportunity, especially for my experience as the highest I've played is League One and now I'm ready to take the next step," said the defender.

"I've never played against a Championship opponent so it would be the first time, it would be a good experience regardless of the result, but obviously you want to get through to the next round.

"I've done everything that has been asked of me. Gary asked me to go to League Two, he's asked me to go to League One, and now hopefully I can get my chance and do it in the Championship.

"I've always wanted this opportunity so hopefully I can get it."

Tickets for Saturday's match will be on sale at Ewood Park until 4.00pm Friday. Tickets will be available at the Valley on the day of the game from the South Stand away end - cash only.

Prices are £10 for Adults and £5 Concessions. Call the ticket office on 01254 372000 for further information.
