Gary Bowyer was delighted to see Chris Taylor make the most of a first start since September by firing Rovers into the fourth round of the FA Cup.
Taylor has found first team opportunities limited this season, but his patience was rewarded with two goals and an accomplished display as Rovers defeated Charlton Athletic 2-1 at the Valley.
The former Millwall man opened the scoring with a pin-point header from Craig Conway's cross after just four minutes, and although the home side levelled ten minutes into the second half, Taylor finished a fine passing move to smash home Chris Brown's centre to secure the cup win for Rovers.
"I am really pleased for Chris Taylor because he's had to wait for his chance," said the manager.
"He's never let us down, he's never moaned, and the quality of his goals today were exceptional.
"For the first one he's done ever so well and got on the end of Craig Conway's cross, then in the second again, he showed a great desire to be in the right place at the right time to score."
Taylor and Rovers are back in action this Sunday when Wolverhampton Wanderers are the vistors to Ewood Park - kick-off 2.00pm.
Tickets are on open sale priced from £17 for Adults, from £11 for Seniors/Students and from £6 for Juniors under 17.
